It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beautiful Straight Egyptian/Al Khamsa Foundation mare, Morsada. She died peacefully in her pasture, with her favorite daughter & companion, Edina Monsoon at her side, sometime in the early hours of the morning on October 28th.

Morsada was bred by the internationally respected James M. Kline, one of the most prominent Egyptian breeders in the world. She was widely considered to be one of the finest examples of his breeding program, and was actively utilized as a broodmare until the Kline Arabians dispersal, at which point I was incredibly fortunate to acquire her through the SPEAH program. To have had the privilege of owning this mare was the dream of a lifetime for me. She is notated in several key Egyptian Arabian reference publications and was also featured in numerous books, magazines and calendars all over the world.

Morsada leaves behind a legacy of 62 first and second generation descendants on four continents, most recently her last straight Egyptian daughter, Bint Morsada, who was recently acquired by Mr. Fahad Hujailan of Al Kout Stud in Kuwait, as well as her grandson, Amir Shaklan, now owned by Shannon Anderson and standing at stud at Dahabi Arabians in Stevensville, Montana.

Morsada was a remarkable personality. She possessed great intelligence, presence & dignity—truly an “old soul.”  Although I will dearly miss her, I look forward to continuing her legacy with her daughter, Edina Monsoon [by Shafe Psuede] as well as her granddaughter Shakhira [BB Thee Renegade ex Edina Monsoon]
